KO HYUN JUNG

Profile
Name: 고현정 / Ko Hyun Jung (Go Hyeon Jeong)
Profession: Actress, model, and singer
Birthdate: 1971-Mar-02

Blood type: B
Family: 1 son and 1 daughter
Education: Dongkook University

Ko Hyun-jung  in Hwasun , South Jeolla ) is a South Korean actress. Like the characters she plays, Go Hyun-jung has had a life filled with drama. A Dongguk University Performing Arts major, she got her start as a runner-
up in the Miss Korea pageant in 1989, which launched her acting career. Her big break came in the 1995 SBS drama Sandglass . The drama dealt with modern Korean history from 1970 to the 1990s and was one of the highest rated dramas in Korean television history, with average ratings of 50.8 percent. People would rush home just to see a new episode, saying “it’s time to go home,” which meant they had to go home to watch Sandglass.
In May 1995, at the peak of her career, Go married Chung Yong-jin, vice chairman and co- CEO of Shinsegae Group and grandson of Samsung founder Lee Byung-chull . The two first met in New York purely by coincidence when Chung had offered to help Go find her seats at the Winter Garden Theatre because her English was so bad.  After the most talked-about wedding in Korea at that time, Go announced her retirement from acting to focus on her new role as a chaebol's wife. They had two children together, a boy and a girl. But after eight years of marriage, a messy divorce followed in November  2003, in which she temporarily lost custody of her children.  Two years after the divorce, Shinsegae passed down a ruling stating that none of its department stores are allowed to display any Go-related material, including all her product endorsements. It is rumored that the ruling is still in effect.

In Korea, divorce is still a big blow to actresses but Go is one of the few who've successfully overcome the stigma . She staged a comeback in the 2005 melodrama Spring Days , which she followed up with May-December romantic comedy What's Up Fox ? and police procedural H.I.T . Go regained her reputation as Korea's top actress in 2009 after playing royal concubine Lady Mishil in the hit historical drama
Queen Seondeok .She was not the titular lead character, but her interpretation of the power-hungry main rival to the queen was impressive enough to make viewers remember the show as Mishil’s story. The drama reached ratings of over 40 percent and won her the highest award at the MBC Drama Awards and Baeksang Arts Awards.  That same year, Go surprised fans not only by appearing on a TV entertainment show (popular talk show Golden Fishery hosted by comedian Kang Ho-dong ) for the first time in 15 years, but also by addressing rumors surrounding her shrouded personal life.  Twenty-one years after making her acting debut, Go held her very first
fanmeeting on June 13, 2010 - she held a press conference beforehand, sang songs for the 500 fans present, answered questions, and prepared video clips.

Though plagued with production issues prior to airing,  Go returned to television ten months later in Daemul , which means "big shot" in Korean. In the drama, Go plays Seo Hye-rim, an anchorwoman who enters politics after the death of her war correspondent husband and becomes the nation’s first woman president. The 24-episode series revolves around an ordinary woman in extraordinary circumstances: how and why she became head of state and also the complicated schemes and plots surrounding her, her presidency, allies and enemies. Besides its star- studded cast (Go starred opposite pan-Asian actor Kwon Sang-woo ), the show’s ratings was helped by its controversial plot, which included events from Korea’s recent past such as a presidential impeachment and the sinking of a Navy warship, and it topped its time slot for 11 consecutive weeks.

Go repeated her feat by winning the top prize at the 2010 SBS Drama Awards.  According to industry sources, Go was reportedly paid W55 million per episode, setting a new record for a Korean actress.  In 2011 she published a book on skin care titled Go Hyun-jung’s Texture . The actress has always been admired for her youthful appearance, largely attributable to her young and healthy skin which had made fans wonder about her beauty secrets. The book, arranged in the format of a documentary, contains Go’s own philosophy on beauty classified under six themes -- texture, color, light, line, formality and scent -- as well as her ideas on leading a sound and healthy lifestyle in general. The book is co-written by another writer who observed the actress's everyday life for six months, describing it in detail.  The book became a bestseller, with all 30,000 copies of the first edition selling out in just two days of release.

Go also narrated the SBS documentary The Last Tundra - Movie Edition which offers a very rare glimpse into the life of the Nenets , the last reindeer herding nomads living in the Siberian tundra . Not content with her small screen success, Go began her late-blooming movie career by going against her image and taking pay cuts to star in non- mainstream films. She was part of the ensemble cast in arthouse films Woman on the Beach and Like You Know It All by auteur Hong Sang-soo .
She then starred in Actresses , a semi- improvisational movie featuring six actresses each playing themselves. Director E J-yong, who was first inspired to make the film after going out for a drink with actresses Yoon Yeo-jeong and Go in 2007, said he focused on conveying the "reality" of the actresses' lives.

At the press event for her eponymously named talk show The GO Show (which premiered on April 6, 2012), Go quipped, "I became an MC because I wanted to. I want to meet a lot of people and hear their stories. I
have always wanted to do that and SBS gave me that opportunity." Given her reputation for saying what is on her mind (one that has won the actress many fans), concerns have arisen as to how her work as show host affects
the impressive image of flawless elegance and sophistication she has gained over the years. But Go harbored little anxiety over how her public image might change, saying, “I think I can afford to put a small dent in my image and have some fun.”  GO Show is co-hosted by singer-songwriter Yoon Jong-shin, and comedians Jung Hyung-don and Kim Young-chul.

She will headline a film for the first time in action-comedy Miss Go (international title: Miss Conspirator ), about
a panic disorder patient who accidentally becomes involved in a cat-and-mouse chase between the police
and the country’s biggest crime ring, turning the woman's life upside down and transforming her into the queen
of crime.

Kim Sun-a

Kim Sun-a, the queen of comedy, has a new movie out and is currently one of the Korea cinema’s top actresses.

In the new flick, “She's on Duty,” Kim Sun-a’s character, Chon Jae-in is a detective who goes undercover as a high school student. It’s a departure from her usual roles. But her trademark comedy is still there. Although the movie is filled with what she does best, she says she was still nervous.

Kim’s action in this movie was a focal point. Although it's not easy for a female actress to learn all these moves and work without a stunt double, Kim Sun-a pulled off the moves with finesse. Needless to say she put an incredible amount of sweat and hard work into it.

Her debut on the silver screen was an action movie called “Yesterday”.
Kim’s cold image stuck her with a very haughty, cosmopolitan image - Until the movie “Wet Dreams”. Kim Sun-a made a complete transformation and gave off a very amiable and friendly air. But still, audiences weren't quick to warm to her.

She staked her claim as a comical actress in the movie “Great Expectations”. Her improve on the set challenged even those of her senior in comedy, Lim Chang-jung. But Kim Sun-a doesn't want to be pegged simply as a "silly" actress -

Always with a smile on her face, people would be surprised to learn how deep her passion is towards acting. On sets, Kim Sun-a is always fun to have around and her smile is infectious, but many people would be surprised to learn how deep her passion is towards acting and her life.

A careful, meticulous young woman hidden underneath an outgoing, free-wheeling public image. This has kept her afloat and popular during a time when the movie industry is overrun with male-centered films.
Whenever we meet up with her, she always manages to put a smile on our faces. We hope her laughter lingers with fans throughout her career - that was the beguiling actress, Kim Sun-a!

brother. She first started her career as model for the clothing company STORM and then caught the eyes of
many by appearing in the music video for "To Heaven" by Jo Seong-mo (조성모). Ha-neul's acting career began in earnest with her 1998 performance, opposite Ji-tae Yu , in the troubled youth film "Bye June ". The following year she would appear in her first television drama " Happy Together " on SBS. By the time of her performance

In 2008, Ha-neul had another hit with the SBS drama series "On Air " which brought a behind the scenes look into the world of television production. KIM TAE HEE

PROFILE
Name: 김태희 / Kim Tae Hee (Kim Tae Hui)
Nickname: Angel
Profession: Actress and model
Birthdate: 1980-Mar-29
Birthplace: Ulsan, South Korea
Height: 165cm
Weight: 45kg
Star sign: Aries
Blood type: O
Family: Older sister and younger brother/actor Lee Wan
Talent agency: Namoo Actors
Debut: CF Model
Education: Ulsan Women High School, Seoul National University (Bachelor’s
degree in Fashion Design)
Religion: Christian (Roman Catholic)

Kim Tae-Hee was born on March 29, 1980 in Ulsan , South Korea. Her immediate family consists of her
parents, one older sister and one younger brother. Kim Tae-Hee's younger brother Lee Wan is also an actor. Kim Tae-Hee, known for her beauty, actually grew up as a tough young girl. In an interview on
MBC TV variety program "Yoo Jae-seok & Kim Won-Hee's Come to Play," on September 13, 2010, Kim Tae-Hee stated she wasn't talkative as a young child, but fought physically with her younger brother
and other boys in the neighborhood. In another interview on KBS2 TV show "The Park Joong-Hoon Show," Kim Tae-Hee stated she frequently broke glass windows and often beat up her younger brother
Lee Wan as a child.
Even though Kim Tae-Hee grew up as a tough child, she received perfect scores in all of her classes throughout middle school and was also very popular with the male students. MBC cable TV program
"Star Secret" discovered these facts when they pulled up her school records and also learned male students in one of Kim Tae-Hee's high school gym classes would often stand next to the window to see her and scream out her name. In high school, Kim Tae-Hee picked up the quirky nickname "Headbanger". This
nickname came about because she would often study late into the night and in class would nearly drift off into sleep and then quickly snap out of it, resulting in her head making a headbanger motion - popular with heavy metal music fans.

Kim Tae-Hee then entered Seoul National University, often mentioned as South Korea's most prestigious and most difficult to enter university, to major in fashion design. The reason she chose this major was that she admired other people who did creative work. During her college days, she was first asked to model
for an ad designer who spotted her in the subway station. At this time, Kim Tae-Hee wasn't sure what she would do after college so she decided to take up the modeling work as a part-time job. In 2000, when Kim Tae-Hee was 21, she made her debut as an ad model for the product "White" (a brand of maxi-pads). She quickly turned into a CF blue chip.

Kim Tae-Hee would then make her acting debut in the 2001 film " Last Present ". In the movie, Kim Tae-Hee played the middle-school aged version of Lee Young- Ae 's main female character Park Jung-Yeon. One year later, she became popular enough to land leading roles in 2003 SBS TV dramas " Screen ," "Stairway to Heaven " & "A Problem at My Younger Brother's House ." Kim Tae-Hee became known for her beauty and graduating from Seoul National University. Nevertheless, her acting ability drew frequent criticisms from critics and the public. Some considered her to be the top CF star, but not a serious actress.
The criticisms did hurt Kim Tae-Hee personally and made her insecure about her acting abilities. By 2008, Kim Tae-Hee took a one year break from acting. In 2009, Kim Tae-Hee made her return to acting in the KBS2 blockbuster action drama " IRIS ." Initial reaction to her acting was muted, but began getting
better reviews as the series went on. Ratings for " IRIS" averaged 31.9%, tops in South Korea at the time, and the show would go on to become hit across Asia. In an interview with Kim Tae-Hee, she mentioned "IRIS " director Yang Yun-Ho made a comfortable environment for her to act and, through frequent rehearsal, made her understand her character's emotions. Kim Tae-Hee believes " IRIS " marked a turning point in her acting career.
After the drama "IRIS ," director Yang Yun-Ho suggested to her to take the female lead in his next movie "Grand Prix ." Kim Tae-Hee would play a female horse jockey and this served to be a problem, because she was afraid of riding horses. As filming went on, she became to enjoy riding horses. But there was
also other difficulties in the filming process. Lead actor Lee Jun-Ki dropped out of the film, after one month of filming, due to his required military enlistment. Actor Yang Dong-Kun was then selected as his replacement. Commercially at least, " Grand Prix " turned out to be a disappointment. The movie opened
#9 during the busy Chuseok holiday weekend and would go on to sell only 168,576 tickets during its theatrical run.
In the second half of 2010, Kim Tae-Hee chose the part of Lee-Sul in the SBS drama " My Princess".
In an interview with 10 Asiae, she mentioned that she likes childish things and likes to imagine about girlish romantic imagery. This is what drew her to the part of Lee-Sul in " My Princess ." On KBS2 TV show
"The Park Joong-Hoon Show,", Kim Tae-Hee also mentioned about rumors that she would marry the son of a Chaebol family. At first, Kim Tae-Hee ignored the rumors and believed the public would also. But, the rumors became more insistent and exaggerated and eventually caused Kim Tae-Hee's  management company to sue netizens who spread the false rumors.

LEE YO WON

PROFILE
Name: 이요원 / Lee Yo-won
Profession: Actress
Birthdate: 1980-Apr-09
Birthplace: Seoul, South Korea
Height: 170cm
Weight: 48kg
Star sign: Aries
Blood type: B
Family: Husband/professional golfer Park Jin Woo and one daughter, cousin/
actor Lee Joong Moon
Talent agency: J&H Film

Lee Yo-Won was born on April 4, 1980 in Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. In 1997, during
her sophomore year in high school, Lee Yo-Won applied for a modelling contest and was picked as the winner.
After the contest she debuted in the monthly fashion magazine "Figaro" (휘가로) for its November issue. In
1998, Lee Yo-Won made her acting debut in the film "Scent of a Man ". While acting for her first movie,
Lee Yo-Won sometimes teared up because staff members only applauded the other actors for their work.
Then some staff members noticed her tears and mentioned she was good at tearing up. That was the first time she positive words about her acting. With her confidence building and gaining more attention from the staff members Lee Yo-Won realized she wanted to pursue acting as a profession. For her second film, Lee Yo-Won played gas station attendent Galchi in the hit movie "Attack the Gas Station! " - which sold 2.4 million tickets. Thanks to the popularity of that film Lee Yo-Won started to gain recognition from the public. Lee Yo-Won then acted in several television dramas.

In 2001, Lee Yo-Won's big breakthrough came in the KBS TV drama " Blue Love" (Pureun Angae). For the first time Lee Yo-Won played the lead character in a TV drama and the series became a big hit. The drama itself contained a controversial (for its time) storyline involving a woman in her early 20's becoming involved romantically with a married man in his 40's. In the same year, 2001, Lee Yo-Won acted as one of the three
main characters in the critically praised indie film "Take Care of My Cat " directed by female director Jeong
Jae-Eun . The film was chosen as one of the 5 best films of 2001 by "Cine Seoul" magazine. Lee Yo-Won would also mentioned in a 2009 interview with "Elle Korea" fashion magazine that "Take Care of My Cat " was her
most memorable work.

In 2003, at the age of 22, Lee Yo-Won made the surprising announcement that she will marry. By the end of January, Lee Yo-Won married professional golfer & businessman Park Jin-Woo. Lee Yo-Won temporarily put her acting career on hold while she went to the U.S. with her husband to study. In 2004, Lee Yo-Won had her first child. In an interview with TV show "Section TV - S Diary" on MBC, Lee Yo-Won mentioned that at the time of her marriage she was tired of acting and the demands placed on her.
In 2005, Lee Yo-Won made her acting comeback in the SBS drama series " Fashion 70's ". She chose the role for three reason: because it was a historical drama, that it was directed by Lee Jae-Kyu (who previously directed popular female oriented detective drama "Damo: The Legendary Police Woman") and that it dealt with a woman's career and success rather than a pure love story.
After "Fashion 70's ," Lee Yo-Won acted in various drama and movies. In 2009, Lee Yo-Won performed in another smash-hit television series, this time in the MBC historical drama "The Great Queen Seondeok ". Lee Yo-Won played main characer Queen Seondeok, who possessed extraordinary intelligence and strength.
In an interview with "Star News," Lee Yo-Won stated she was tired of playing woman who were fragile and
weak and eagerly took the role of Queen Seondeok because of this.

In 2010, Lee Yo-Won's next film " The Recipe " was released in late October. She appeared at the world premiere for " The Recipe " during the Pusan International Film Festival (in which AsianMediaWiki attended). During the question and answer session Lee Yo-Won stated she chose the film, because she wanted to
work with another female director due to her great experience with " Take Care of My Cat ." Although she was initially relunctant to take on another role of a "fragile woman," the movie's producer Jang Jin and movie director Lee Seo-Goon convinced her this would be the right role for her.

                                                             KIM YOO JIN "EUGENE"

PROFILE
  • Stage name: Eugene
  • Real name: 김유진 / Kim Yoo Jin (Gim Yu Jin)
  • Nickname: Panda
  • Profession: Singer and actress
  • Birthdate: 1981-Mar-03
  • Birthplace: Seoul, South Korea
  • Height: 160cm
  • Weight: 47kg
  • Star sign: Pisces
  • Blood type: A
  • Family: Husband/actor Ki Tae Young and one younger sister
Eugene was born in Seoul, South Korea, but spent her childhood in Guam after moving there after elementary school. She returned to Korea with her mother and younger sister sometime in high school, and eventually graduated from Korea Kent Foreign School.

GIRL GROUP MEMBER

By way of an audition tape, Eugene was able to be part of a music group for SM Entertainment in South Korea, even though she was still in Guam. Debuting in 1997, S.E.S. became one of the biggest Korean groups of all time, having the record for biggest selling album by a female group in Korea. While in S.E.S., Eugene became known for her beauty and was part of the reason why S.E.S. had many advertising contracts. In fact, for certain print campaigns (like for Korean cosmetics company Etude), Eugene had the leading role, being the focus of the advertisements.
SOLO CAREER
After the split of S.E.S. in 2002, Kim starred in four Korean dramas: Loving YouSave The Last Dance for MeWonderful Life, and I Really, Really Like You. She also appeared in commercials and advertisements, notably for Korean cosmetics company Cathy Cat. In addition, she released two solo albums. My True Style, her first album, has sold nearly 65,000 records and had one hit ballad, "The Best". Her second album 810303 sold a disappointing 19,000 copies. Although sales were low, Eugene still had a very successful single with "Windy", mostly due to her new "sexy" image (compared to her previous girl next door image). This song was performed on all the music video programs in Korea for many months, in addition to her second single. Promotions were stopped near the end of the year.
Eugene made her theater debut in the musical adaptation of the film Innocent Steps and her film debut in Unstoppable Marriage.

Song Hye-Kyo made her debut as a model, becoming the winner of a school uniform model competition at the age of 14. She then played the character of a cute and clumsy student in the SBS hit sitcom "Sunpong
Sanbuingwa " (1998), but failed to make a lasting impression among fans. Song finally made it big starring in KBS2 ' " Autumn in my Heart " with Song Seung-Heon in 2000 and "All In " with Lee Byung-Hun in 2003. The dramas' popularity soared not only in Korea, but also abroad including Japan, Taiwan and Europe, and Song finally became one of "Korea's sweethearts." Although Song Hye-Kyo's big-screen career has not met as much commercial success she is not afraid take on new challenges. She appeared in the U.S. horror film "Make Yourself at Home " in 2008 and was going to appear in the Chinese film "1949 ," but the movie was canceled by director John Woo .

She dated Hyun-Bin , her co-star from Worlds Within...... . Not romantically involved during filming, the two had kept in touch after the drama ended and they started dating in June 2009. Hyun Bin's being away for the filming of Friend, Our Legend in Busan reportedly made the two realize they were in love.
On March 8, 2011, both Hyun and Song's talent agencies confirmed that they have broken up in early 2011.
In 2011 she filmed the movie La Quotidienne which will be released later in the year. The film is about a documentary producer who loses her fiancé and a deserted genius girl. Song Hye Kyo has been considered Korea's most beautiful woman. In 2010 she was ranked #18 in The Annual Independent Critics List  of the
100 Most Beautiful Faces.

International Film Festival).

Career

Song debuted in the entertainment industry in 1996 when she won the Grand Prize in SunKyung Smart
(a school uniform company) when she was finishingher third year in junior high school. It was not long until she starred in her first drama , Merry Morning. Since then, she would continue to star in a string of various dramas and sitcoms but it wasn't until the KBS drama Autumn in My Heart in 2000 with Song Seung-hun and Won Bin that she rose to fame throughout Asia.

In 2003, her popularity continued to climb when she played a leading role alongside Lee Byung-hun in the gambling drama All In . The following year, she co-starred with singer Rain in the hit romantic comedy series
Full House . After the pan-Asian success of Full House , she made her big-screen debut in My Girl and I (a Korean adaptation of Crying Out Love in the Center of the World), which was panned by audiences and critics alike. Vocal about her dissatisfaction with typecasting in the roles she was being offered, Song
went on a 2-year hiatus.

She returned to acting in 2007, as the titular kisaeng in the film adaptation of Hwang Jin Yi. Because they found Song's image "too cute", Jun Ji-hyun and Soo Ae were the producers' original choices for the role, but Song went
on a vigorous diet and surprised them with her will and desire to be Hwang Jini . A year later, she made her American debut in the Hollywood indie Make Yourself at Home (formerly titled Fetish), a psychological thriller about a girl who was born to a shaman mother and tries to flee her fate by becoming an immigrant bride in the U.S. Despite Song’s attempts to challenge herself, both films underwhelmed at the box office.  She made her TV comeback in late 2008 with The World That They Live In, a series set at a broadcast station in which Song and Hyun Bin play drama PDs who work together and fall in love.

In 2010, she starred in Camellia , an omnibus pic made up of three feature films directed by three Asian directors. Each episode is set in the past, present and future of the city of Busan , Korea. In the film's final segment Love for Sale , Song and Kang Dong-won play former lovers who forget their memories about each other which later leads them to a fatal destiny.  Considered one of Korea's most beautiful women,  in early 2011
Song released the photobook Song Hye-kyo's Moment which was shot by top photographers in Atlanta, New York, Buenos Aires, Patagonia, Paris, the Netherlands and Brazil.  She plays a documentary producer who finds the strength to forgive the 17- year-old boy who killed her fiance but instead of redemption finds only greater tragedy in A Reason to Live (Korean title: Today), which after several delays was released in October 2011. Song was a huge fan of the director and had actively sought her out,  and though she had difficulty getting into character,  Song said she fell in love with the script and felt her acting had matured. She considers the film "a turning point" in her life.

She will next appear in a supporting role in The Grandmasters , Chinese director Wong Kar-wai 's biopic about Bruce Lee 's kung fu master Ip Man .  Song learned Cantonese and martial arts for the film.  Two years after it was cancelled, Song's movie with Chinese director John Woo Love and Let Love (previously titled 1949 ) will begin filming in Shanghai and Taiwan in early 2012. She plays a wealthy, driven woman who lives through the end of World War II and the Chinese Civil War . Woo's longtime friend and producer Terence Chang has been managing Song's overseas activities since 2008.

PROFILE

Profession: Actress and model
Birthdate: 1982-Jan-11
Birthplace: Daegu, South Korea

Star sign: Capricorn
Blood type: RH+A
Family: Older sister
Talent agency: Barunson Entertainment
Education: Seoul Institute of the Arts (Film Arts degree)
Hobbies: Listening to music and reading books
Religion: Christianity (Roman Catholic)

Son Ye-jin has taken on a variety of roles in her career to date, propelling her to fame both in Korea and in other Asian countries. She first appeared in a supporting role in Park Ki-hyung's film Secret Tears in 2000, and then went on to take the lead in TV dramas such as Delicious Proposal , Sun-hee and Jin- hee, and Daemang: Great Ambition. Her first high-profile role in cinema was in Im Kwon-taek 's Chi-hwa-seon , which screened at Cannes and took home a Best Director award in 2002.

The biggest success of her early career was in the subsequent films Lovers' Concerto and The Classic . Both were solid mid-level hits in Korea, and The Classic in particular—being a work of My Sassy Girl director Kwak Jae-yong -- received wide exposure in countries such as Hong Kong and China. Son further solidified her status as a "hallyu" ( Korean wave) star in 2003 by taking the lead in TV drama Summer Scent, a part of the hugely successful series of TV dramas including Autumn Love Story and Winter Sonata (though this drama would not attract the attention of the previous two). Her next two films also proved to be huge hits in Asia: A Moment to Remember , based on a famous Japanese TV series, set box office records in Japan and sold over two million tickets in Korea, while April Snow in which she co-starred with superstar Bae Yong-joon was also a smash hit in Japan and China (though not, incidentally, in Korea).

Son's most recent work sees her cast off her nice girl image.  She took on the roles of a con artist in The Art of Seduction , an ambitious reporter in Spotlight ,  a femme fatale in Open City , and a divorcée in the critically
acclaimed 2006 TV drama Alone in Love opposite Gam Woo-sung . In 2008, her portrayal of a polyandrous woman in My Wife Got Married bagged her Best Actress honors from the prestigious Blue Dragon Film Awards and other local award-giving bodies.

After filming the dark mystery White Night , Son wanted to do a more fun project, so she chose the romantic comedy Personal Taste , followed by the supernatural love story Spellbound .  She next stars in her first
blockbuster action flick, Tower , a remake of the 1974 Hollywood film The Towering Inferno .

PROFILE
Name: 한가인 / Han Ga In (Han Ka In)

Profession: Actress and model
Birthdate: 1982-Feb-02
Birthplace: Seoul, South Korea
Height: 169cm
Weight: 46kg
Star sign: Aquarius
Blood type: AB
Family: Husband/actor Yun Jung Hoon and sister
Education: Kyunghee University (Hotel/Tourism major)
Hobbies: Listening to sad music

Han Ga-in ( Hangul: 한가인, Hanja : 韓佳人) (born Kim Hyun-joo (Hangul : 김
현주, Hanja: 金賢珠) on February 25, 1982) is a South Korean actress.
Career
As a high school student, Han Ga-in appeared on a TV quiz show and was
also captured in footage of interviews with other students. Entertainment
bigwigs spotted her in the news clip and immediately went to her school to
offer her a part.  She debuted in an Asiana Airlines commercial in 2002,
and was cast in the KBS2 drama Sunshine Hunting . She was named best new
actress at the 2003 KBS Drama Awards .
In 2007, after Witch Yoo Hee wrapped, she criticized the drama's director
and writers.
Categorized as a " CF star," Han wanted to change that misconception with
her comeback in 2010. In Bad Guy, she attempted to transform her image as
a pure and innocent girl to a materialistic woman who dreams of climbing
the social ladder.
2012 has been the most successful year of her career yet. Period drama
series The Moon that Embraces the Sun , in which she played the role of
Yeon-woo, the first and last love of King Lee Hwon, ended with a whopping
audience share of 40 percent when the final episode aired.
Then her film Architecture 101 got rave reviews and remains a box-office hit
after its release. She considers her character Seo-yeon as the closest to her
real-life personality.
She has been managed by J. One Plus Entertainment since 2009.
Personal life
She married her Yellow Handkerchief co-star Yeon Jung-hoon on April 26,
2005.

Ku Hye Sun (Korean쿠혜순, born November 9, 1984) is a South Korean actress, singer, author and director. An admirer of Leonardo Da Vinci, Ku also dabbles in directing, writing, illustrating, singing and composing. She is best known for her role as Geum Jan Di in the hit TV show Boys Over Flowers.

Ku entered the entertainment industry after gaining popularity on the internet as an ulzzang. She began her acting career in one-act dramas and the sitcomNonstop 5. She was also co-MC with Heechul of Super Junior on SBS's weekly live music show Inkigayo from April 23, 2006 to February 18, 2007.
Ku soon rose to fame in the drama Pure in Heart and surprised critics with her performance in the historical drama The King and I. She is most well known for portraying Geum Jan-di in the hit KBS drama Boys Over Flowers. After a year in limbo with no broadcasting slot, her pre-produced drama The Musical finally aired in September 2011. Ku next starred as a female pilot in the SBS series Take Care of Us, Captain, followed by the Taiwanese drama adaptation of the manga Absolute Boyfriend.
Originally set to debut as a singer (supposedly in a 3-member girl group with 2NE1's Park Bom and Sandara Park), YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun-seokadvised Ku to pursue acting rather than music. In recent years, she has displayed her vocal talents through Saranga (which became the title song of Pure in Heart), a cover of Shim Soo-bong's I Don't Know Anything But Love (which played during a crucial scene in Boys Over Flowers), and a duet of Kim Gun Mo's song Rain Falls on a Sleepless Night with Big Bang member Seungri on the music talk show Lee Hana's Peppermint. Ku has also composed an album of New Age musictitled Breath.
Ku wrote Tango, a semi-autobiographical novel about a twenty-something woman's experience with love and relationships. The book was a bestseller, selling 30,000 copies within a week. Its release coincided with her first solo art exhibition, also titled Tango, in July 2009 at La Mer Gallery, which attracted 10,000 visitors. The exhibition featured around 40 of Ku's illustrations, some from her novel. She has also done artwork for Gummy's fourth album Comfort.
Ku made her official debut as a director through her short film The Madonna (Korean title translates to The Cheerful Caretaker) at the 2009 Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival. In 2010 she wrote and directed her first feature-length film Magic, followed by more short films and trailers.
In 2011 Ku established her own company, Ku Hye-sun Film, under which she will produce and film her projects, which offers her a measure of legal/business protection. Her second directorial feature The Peach Tree was the first film made by her newly established production company. She said of directing, "It’s tiring and grueling. At times you ask yourself, 'Why am I doing this?' But movies have the ability to make you feel alive."

Actress Seo Woo was born in Seoul, South Korea on July 7, 1985 with the birth name of Kim Moon-Joo (김문주). She is the youngest of three daughters in her family. As the youngest child Seo Woo developed a charming personality effective for a young child to garner attention. Her childhood was typical for a Korean girl and she held no aspirations to become an actress during her school days. Seo Woo did take traditional Korean dance lessons for 8 years and also figure skating & violin lessons.
In 2007, Seo Woo made her debut as an actress in a supporting role for the film "My Son". Even at this time Seo Woo did not hold aspirations to become an actress. Seo Woo got the part after visiting the president of her current management company "Shim Entertainment" (심엔터테인먼트), whom she already knew & received an audition. During this time Seo Woo also appeared in a commercial for Lotte ice cream and in the MBC drama "Kimchi Cheese Smile".
In the following year, 2008, Seo Woo received her break out role in the critically lauded film "Crush and Blush". Seo Woo played pivotal supporting character Seo Jong-Hee - an oddball outcast middle-school student. Prior to filming "Crush and Blush," the film's director Lee Kyoung-Mi frequently called Seo Woo & listened to Seo Woo practice her lines, while also talking about herself and asking questions about Seo Woo. Through this process Seo Woo got closer to her character Seo Jong-Hee. As a result, Seo Woo won "Best New Actress" awards from 8 different domestic movie awards.
In 2009 Seo Woo took the lead role in the unusual MBC drama "Tamra, the Island" - a period drama set on Jeju Island that also stars French model Pierre Deporte. In "Tamra, the Island," Seo Woo plays Jang Beo-jin an impish young female diver on the island. The role was a challenge for Seo Woo because she has a fear of water from an early drowning experiencing. Although Seo Woo found it difficult at times, she did manage to finish her filming scenes after taking diving lessons for three months. "Tamra, the Island" received disappointing TV ratings, but the show did attract a fervent following by hardcore fans who protested loud and clear when MBC decided to shorten the length of the series.
A minor scandal also broke out during this time when netizens discovered Seo Woo was born in 1985 and not in 1988 (which was her reported age by her management company). When the discrepancy was discovered, her management company publicly apologized for the error and stated the error was their fault and not Seo Woo's.
During the filming of "Tamra, the Island," Seo Woo also received an offer to play the main character in the art film "Paju," directed by Park Chan-Ok. Initially, it seemed Seo Woo could not perform in "Paju" due to her shooting schedule in "Tamra, the Island," but a fortunate 2 month break allowed Seo Woo to take part in "Paju." According to director Park Chan-Ok, Seo Woo was cast for the lead role due to her exhausted eyes, which was shown on "Tamra, the Island." Director Park Chan-Ok felt those emotions would fit perfectly with her character's mysterious image in "Paju." Seo Woo and the film "Paju" received strong responses, especially from the film festival circuit.
Since that time, Seo Woo has seen her popularity increase immensely and demand for her as an actress has also risen proportionally. In 2010, Seo Woo performed alongside celebrated actress Jeon Do-Yeon in the highly anticipated film "The Housemaid," directed by Im Sang-Soo. Seo Woo also plays the inverted Cinderella like character in the popular KBS2 drama "Cinderella's Sister," alongside popular actress Moon Geun-Young.
When Seo Woo is not busy acting in movies or dramas, she enjoys cooking and sometimes even cooks for her manager. Her worst habit is laziness.

Set Korean drama record for winning Best Screen Couple Awards

Moon Chae Won debuted in the teen drama as key actress with Lee Min Ho in "Mackerel Run" in 2007. Then made her first movie debut with Lee Min Ho for her first screen in supporting role as Lee Eun Shil in teen movie "My School's E.T". Although she could transcend both teen characters differently, but she only received attention when she acted as kisaeng Jeong Hyang in The Painter of the Wind. Although her character Jeong Hyang was just a small supporting actress role, and it was only her first ancient drama and 2 tv drama in her acting career. Yet her beauty and charisma charmed the TV viewers. she played a beautiful gisaeng who falls for Moon Geun-young, who passes herself of as a man. Her partnership with Moon Geun-young as screen lover was so appealing until they both won the record winning SBS 2008 Best Screen Couple Awards by most popular vote. For the first in Korean drama history, two actress for their lesbian love became the Best Screen Couple, and it was quite an accomplishment for a young actress in her beginning career.

Career Turning Point in 2010

The following year, Moon performed as the privileged Yoo Seung Mi in popular Korean drama Brilliant Legacy and the girl-next-door, where she was bright and energetic Yeo Ui Joo in Take Care of the Young Lady. Then her acting career suddenly received a slow down, for almost 8 months she did not received any works, her only break was less than one episode appearance in “Road Number One” as an army medical doctor Min Young Jin, though only a short part, yet, she remain her excellent acting standard.
In early September 2010, Moon Chae Won received the turning point of her career. On an more than 2 months International internet voting Moon Chae Won with her supporting role in Brilliant Legacy won the highest popular vote of 71,294 among all nominated actress in Asia. Her majority vote doubled the lead actress in Brilliant Legacy. It was the first time, a supporting actress won such an honour in film industry. Moon Chae Won thus received attention from the film industry.

Immediately Moon Chae Won was given the lead role in It's Okay, Daddy's Girl. as Eun Chae Ryung.Super Junior’s Donghae as the lead’s younger brother, who works multiple jobs to keep his family afloat; and CN Blue’s Kang Min-hyuk, who plays a delivery boy and drummer in a band. In "It’s Okay, Daddy’s Girl", Moon Chae-won plays someone very different from those previous characters; Moon can seem mature for her age (she’s 25), but her character Chae-ryung is completely immature. (At least, at the start of the drama.) Chae-ryung is the type of girl who has her daddy wrapped around her little finger, and who’s not above whining and pouting because she wants a designer handbag, like a young child. Then transcend her character to mature professional woman in later stage of the drama after her family faced tragic. Her role was appealing until when the drama was half way aired Moon Chae Won received nomination as Best Actress for SBS Drama Awards
Career Breakthrough, 2011

In February 2011, Moon Chae Won cancelled her vacation trip to Spain after received to act in movie "Arrow The Ultimate Weapons" War of the Arrows, to be the sole lead female character Ja-In. Moon Chae Won took up serious archery and horse riding lessons with all the lead male actors in this movie. She received great critic and attention from western viewers, when the movie was aired in the London Korean Film Festival and US cinemas. Yet, without a day of rest, after Moon Chae Won filmed "Arrow The Ultimate Weapons" immediately in June, she started filming in KBS drama The Princess' Man with Park Shi Hoo when Moon played Lee Se-ryung. At the beginning of the drama, Moon Chae Won received some critics on her speech in ancient drama, and some controversial in her appearance in an entertainment show "Happy Hour". To Moon Chae Won, it was the hardest blow since her acting career, yet unlike others and her graceful outlook, Moon Chae Won has iron will, with the supports from her best friends,Moon Geun-youngHan Hyo Joo and her senior, Son Ye Jin, she was determine to do her best to turn around the critics. Although by August 10, 2011, her movie "Arrow The Ultimate Weapons" started in screening with huge success, immediately within 3 days, it received over one million viewership. The media was desperate to interview the sole lead actress. However, Moon Chae Won turned down all interviews and focus on her role as Se-Ryung in the drama "The Princess Man". She did not rest for days to drew herself into the sad stage of Se-Ryung, until her acting moved and shocked the film industry, and won her applause and outstanding viewership to make the drama the top rating drama. 2 documentary films appeared to study the success and history of this drama.
With outstanding performances in both of the works mentioned above in 2011, Moon Chae Won received special attention from the public. She posed as a strong yet beautiful woman in "Arrow, the Ultimate Weapon", and brought that different character into "The Princess' Man", added with a gentle touch. Her charm earned her popularity among viewers especially the male audiences, the public, media and film critics. By then Moon Chae Won shows promise of a thriving career in acting.

During the third grade of her elementary school, Moon Geun-Young performed in her school's play and became enthusiastic towards acting.
After her performance in the play, Moon Geun-Young asked her parents to send her to an acting institute. At first her parents rejected her idea, but Moon Gun-Young did not give up. The following year, while in the 4th grade of elementary school, Moon Geun-Young asked her parents again. This time around, her parents replied if presidential candidate Kim Dae-jung won the election they would send her to acting school. Fortunately for Moon-Geun-Young, Kim Dae-Jung won the presidential election in 1997. By the 6th grade of Moon Geun-Young's schooling she enrolled in an acting institute in Gwangju. While learning acting at the institute her profile was sent by the institute to Seoul and in the following year she was cast as an extra for a few television dramas.

Television Debut

After more CF roles, Moon Geun-Young made her proper TV drama debut in 1999 with the KBS children's drama "Potato" ("누룽지선생과 감자 일곱개"). Moon Geun-Young also acted in the documentary "On The Way" ("길 위에서") directed by Choi Jae-Eun.
In 2000, her big break came while performing as the child character Eun-Seo in the KBS2drama "Autumn in my Heart". With the drama's large following, she became recognized by the Korean public. In 2010, while promoting the theatrical play "Closer" Moon Geun-Young was asked what was her favorite performance and she stated that it was "Autumn in my Heart" due to her acting inexperience at the time and having to act on pure instinct.

Movie Debut

After acting in more dramas, Moon Geun-Young performed in the motion picture "Lover's Concerto". In 2003, Moon Geun-Young took on her first lead role in the critically praised and commercially successful horror film "A Tale of Two Sisters," directed by Kim Ji-Woon. "A Tale of Two Sisters" sold over 3 million tickets and helped display Moon Geun-Young's acting ability in a more dynamic setting.
With Moon Geun-Young's romantic comedy "My Little Bride" in 2004, she perfected her cute wholesome image and found further commercial success at the box office. "My Little Bride" sold over 3 million tickets and became the second highest domestic grossing film for that year. During this time, Moon Geun-Young picked up the nickname "the nation's younger sister" (Gukmin yeo-dong-saeng") due to her cute little sister image. Interesting to note, Moon Geun-Young mentioned that her management company was happy with her performance, but she was not. At the time she still could not let her Su-Yeon character from "A Tale of Two Sisters" go.
Her next films, 2005 "Innocent Steps" & 2006 "Love Me Not" were not as commercially successful nor did they receive favorable critical reviews. "Innocent Steps" would follow Moon Geun-Young's "cute" image set in "My Little Bride," while the darker "Love Me Not," followed more along the lines of "A Tale of Two Sisters".
In 2006, Moon Geun-Young was accepted at Sungkyunkwan University and majored in Korean Language and Literature. During this time, Moon Geun-Young took a break from acting and did not perform in any titles.

Return to Acting

In 2008, Moon Geun-Young made her return to acting in the SBS period drama "The Painter of Wind". The role marked a departure for Moon Geun-Young as she played a woman who disguises herself as a man to become a painter. Primarily due to the risky decision to cast Moon Geun-Young in the lead character role, the production company were worried about the commercial viability of the drama series. Filming also came with some difficulties. On October 9th, Moon Geun-Young fractured her nose while filming a scene for "The Painter of Wind." The accident occurred when co-star Park Shin-Yang inadvertently hit Moon Geun-Young with his elbow while filming an argument scene. Shooting for the series halted for one week while Geun-yeong recovered. As it turns out, "The Painter of Wind" received solid ratings (13.2% weekly average) and received favorable critical reviews. Moon Geun-Young also garnered the top prize (Daesang Award) at the SBS Drama Awards for her performance in "The Painter of Wind".
In 2010, Moon Geun-Young made another bold step in her acting career by performing as the sometimes villain in the KBS2 drama "Cinderella's Stepsister". "Cinderella's Stepsister" was a hit, regularly receiving ratings in excess of 20%. During the press conference for "Cinderella's Stepsister," Moon Geun-Young stated that an actress should step outside of her "safety fence" and take on risk.
In 2010, Moon Geun-Young took on another new challenge by performing in the theatrical play "Closer". Moon Geun-Young played twenty something year old Alice, who works as a strip dancer. In November of 2010, Moon Geun-Young also took on another lead role in the romantic-comedy drama "Marry Me, Mary!". Moon Geun-Young stated she was ready to take a break from acting at the time, but on the strength of the scenario for the series, the talented staff and the casting of Jang Geun-Suk in the lead male role, she was persuaded to take on the role in "Marry Me, Mary!".

Family Background & Her Philanthropic Deeds

Moon Geun-Young's grandfather is the late political prisoner Ryu Nak-Jin. He died on April 1, 2005. Also, Moon Geun-Young's great uncle was shot to death during the Gwangju Uprising in 1980. Due to the political strife in Moon Geun-Young's family, Moon Geun-Young's parents placed a condition on their daughter to donate a portion of her earnings to needy causes. Throughout her career and, often anonymously, Moon Geun-Young has made small and large donations to different charitable causes. In November 2008, the non-profit group "Korean Community Chest'" revealed that actress Moon Geun-Young has donated over 850 million Won (approx. $800,000 USD) anonymously to the charity group over the past 5 years. In 2009, Moon Geun-Young donated the Haenam Children's Center to the NGO group Good People. The building was originally financed at a cost of 300 million Won ($230,000) by Moon Geun-Young after she heard of the pastor and his wife who were in financial difficulties and the school, which taught underprivileged children in the area, was going to be shut down.

Special Relationship With Her Grandmother

As a child, both of Moon Geun-Young's parents worked and, because of this, she spent a lot of time with her grandmother. Her grandmother has also often spent time on the shooting set with Moon Geun-Young. A famous incident exists of Moon Geun-Young and her grandmother while on the shooting set for the movie "My Little Bride". During this time, they were observed together picking up discarded cigarette butts off the floor before throwing it away in a trash can.

Notes

  1. Actress Geun-yeong Mun fractured her nose on Oct 9, 2008 while filming a scene for "The Painter of Wind". Co-star Shin-yang Park accidentally hit Geun-yeong with his elbow while shooting an argument scene. Filming for the show halted for one week while Geun-yeong recovered.

When she was in the 6th grade at Hak-Kang Elementary School in Gwangju, she auditioned for the lead role in the music video "Ggot - Flower" by "Dream Factory," pop singer Lee Seung-Hwan's music company. She passed the audition, joined the company, and began training as a singer there.

Park's fame came when she played the younger version of the character Han Jung-suh in the popular Korean drama Stairway to Heaven. She also starred in a drama series called Tree of Heaven which aired on SBS, starring her former co-star in Stairway to HeavenLee Wan. The show had decent ratings, and the reviews and criticism were mixed, but mostly positive. Many critics keyed in on her portrayal of the character Hana's pain of loving her step brother Yoon-suh (Lee Wan) as brilliantly done. It should also be noted that due to the age difference between her and Wan, romantic scenes such as kissing on the lips could not occur, where had it been an older actress, such scenes may have occurred. Tree of Heaven started with borderline mediocre ratings, as do many new Korean dramas, but went on to finish very respectably, and gained a fan base in Korea, which further helped Park's credibility and young career in acting. Since then, Park has done many commercials (CF) and modeled for a number of Asian companies.
Through her roles and their requirements, Park has displayed an instinctive talent for dancing and martial arts. She has also released a digital single, "Prayer", a song she sang in the drama Tree of Heaven. However, the track was not released in the official OST.
Park made her big screen debut in the movie Evil Twin, a summer horror flick where she had 2 roles: one as the main character, and the other as the ghost of the main character's sister, who haunts the other sister after her death. Park was extremely happy to act in this movie, because she had always wanted to act in a period setting drama or movie.
Park starred as one of the four main characters in Goong S, a spin off (not the sequel) to the wildly successful Goong. The series did not match the success of its original, and received borderline ratings. However, the drama was the most re-watched and replayed series in the first half of 2007, gaining fame after the first run. Park later gained more popularity through idol drama series You're Beautiful. Her 2011 drama Heartstrings began airing on June 29, 2011. Jung Yong Hwa, a co-star from You're Beautiful, played the male lead opposite her.
Recently, Park was featured in the first three episodes of the show "Music and Lyrics" with Yoon Gun (윤건) of Korean R&B duo Brown Eyes (브라운아이즈). ‘Music and Lyrics’ is a reality/romance show that collaborates a top actress and an amazing songwriter to write a one-of-a-kind song in 30 days. Their efforts produced the song "I Think of You". The release date is yet to be revealed. She is best known for the roles of "Go Mi Nam" in the television drama You're Beautifuland "Lee Gyu Won" in the 2011 drama Heartstrings. She attends Chung-Ang University
